2nd trimester ..it took forever for us to meet!

In about an hour it will be midnight and that means I've made it to 14 weeks! 2nd trimester here I come!!

So far I've been lucky enough to have basically no morning sickness. From week 6 to the middle of week 8 I was nauseous but only in the sense I felt like I hadn't eaten in WEEKS or MONTHS! Eating little snacks seemed to help so it was very manageable. I only ever vomited twice, both times on the day after I found out I was pregnant and I think it was due to the shock factor and a psychological thing, not morning sickness since I never vomited again after those two times. So since the middle of week 8, I've had no issues in the sense of morning sickness, not even nausea. The last few weeks had just seemed to consist of frequent bathroom trips and waking up at night around 4-6 times to go to the bathroom but that has gotten better and I only seem to wake up at night once to go to the bathroom and last night I actually managed a full nights rest with no waking up to go to the bathroom! I'm liking it and I hope the second trimester is as "smooth sailing" as it's been talked up to be... at least for the most part. I have been really tired the past 2 or 3 weeks though -going to bed early, waking up relatively early and on occasion sleeping until about 10:30 or 11am and even napping during the day, which I could never have done before.. at least not without being awake all night as a result. That too is also getting a bit better... no horrible needs to nap in the day, just going to sleep early (tonight is actually the latest I've stayed up in about 2 weeks and it is only 11!) and waking up early. So, no complaints there either.

I have my next appt. on the 28th and I will be 1 day away from being 15 weeks. Woohoo! I'm hoping they tell me when they're planning on scheduling our "big ultrasound" since we're not that far off from being able to find out the sex. I'm guessing it'll be somewhere between 18 weeks or 20 weeks. I hope they don't try to schedule one so early that they might end up seeing the wrong sex since it might be too underdeveloped but we'll see since I am guessing I will have SOME say-so in the scheduling of the ultrasound since they can't do it without me! hehe

and nowww.... I am TIRED! Sleep time!

How we found out...

I had just recently gotten a new job in the beginning of November, I got an interview on my birthday and they told me I was hired! I had no idea yet that I was pregnant, none what-so-ever. I remember being paranoid that my job required me to wear khaki pants because I was so terrified I was going to get my period while I was at work and you can not hide that in khaki pants AT ALL! So, I was more than eagerly awaiting my period so that I could not have an embarrassing surprise like that at work... but then I noticed, it was not coming.. still not here.. still not here... still not here and then finally I was past due for my period. I had a tiny inkling that just maybe and I even joked with my husband about it then saying, "haha, yeah right" and thinking, "no, no.. it's just a little off whack this month" and that has happened to me before so it wasn't a big deal so I put it out of my mind for the rest of the day. (November 19th, 2008) The next day my husband and I were walking around in Seattle and decided to go to the mall to look around a bit and get something to eat. While we were going up the escalator to the top we passed by a maternity store and my husband joked, "hey, why don't we go look around in there" and I just laughed and said, "riight, that'll happen." still having no clue what we were going to find out later that night. Well, as the day winded down we dropped by the arcade and talked to his brother for a little while to warm up since it was pretty cold outside then decided to head home. We got home and watched a movie and I got the, "what if" thoughts back in my head
and ended up sending my husband to the store for a test just so I could get that out of my mind especially since I thought getting pregnant for me wasn't possible. He got home and I laughed saying, "sorry I made you waste 20 bucks on nothing, but anyway I'll go do it" so I walked in the bathroom opened the test, read the directions and then proceeded to go to the bathroom without even testing because for some reason I was still nervous. I then grabbed a big bottle of water and chugged it until I was about to pop and grabbed the test, took it and called my husband in to wait with me. I joked the whole time saying, "I can't believe I'm doing this and I made us waste money on this for nothing" then BAM, it popped up and it DID NOT say what I was thinking it would.. it said PREGNANT and I said, "HA this thing is a piece of crap!" and sent him to the store yet again to buy a different type of test thinking that the other one was broken or something. He got home, gave me the test and back in the bathroom I went. We waited.. waited.. and again, pregnant.... took the 2nd test in the box and again..  waited.. then PREGNANT! That was the biggest shock I think I'd even had in my life and I just dropped the test and began to ball my eyes out. Finally, later when I had calmed down we decided to go talk to Planned Parenthood in the morning just to get better opinions on it and they had me take yet another test and told me, "yes, you are pregnant... you are 5 weeks pregnant" my eyes just popped out of my head! I guess it was just weird to hear that from someone else and I definitely didn't think that even if I really was pregnant that it would already be that far. But, then again I wasn't exactly thinking straight, heh.

I have since been to the doctor and I have seen our little kicker 3 times now and I am so blessed and in love with it already and so, so happy my doctor was wrong and that I can have children because I wouldn't change this for anything! We haven't even met yet and my husband and I already love, love, love and adore this baby!

here I am...

I had been thinking of doing a pregnancy blog for a few weeks now but had been keeping it all down in a normal handwritten journal and decided that can get lost too easily, so lets go ahead and make one here =)

I was told I had PCOS and that I couldn't get pregnant when I was 17. I had always kind of thought that since I was around 10 years old.. I remember one day it just dawned on me that I wouldn't have any.. I was never really sure why until the doctor told me I couldn't. Come to find out.... the doctor was W-R-O-N-G!! I am currently 13wks, 4 days pregnant and nearing my 2nd trimester! I guess that awful 10 year old so-called "epiphany" was wrong, as was my (former) doctor, ha!
